Cut, don't talk.
UNF thread cutting set 1/4''–1'', 37-piece.
The a+s ALBRECHT+SCHULTE tap and die set S504AS160 covers all common American fine threads (UNF) from 1/4" to 1". Nine three-piece hand tap sets according to DIN 2184-2 made of HSSG (No. 1 and No. 3) and nine HSS round dies according to DIN EN 22568 Form B form the core of the set. Together with two tap wrenches, six die holders, a UNF thread template, and a screwdriver, this complete tap and die set for fine threads is neatly organized in a robust plastic case with EVA foam insert.
Fine threads, strong connections.
UNF for precision work.
UNF threads are used wherever high preload forces, precise adjustment options, or limited installation space are required – for example, in mechanical and plant engineering, automotive engineering, motorsports, or for repairs to devices with American thread standards. The HSSG hand taps in this set offer smooth cutting action and high dimensional accuracy, while the HSS dies create precise external threads or repair damaged threads. The two-stage design (roughing and finishing taps) ensures that fine threads can be produced cleanly, with control, and with well-controlled cutting forces.
Suitcases & Organization.
Everything is in its right place.
The black plastic case with orange latches is designed for daily workshop and service use. The precisely fitting black and orange EVA foam insert securely holds each hand tap, die, and holder. Each position is labeled with the corresponding UNF size, so you can see at a glance which tool belongs where. The included a+s thread mat provides additional protection against scratches and also includes thread charts (M, UNC, UNF, BSW, BSP, G) as well as an illustrated step-by-step guide to thread cutting. The case can be easily stored in a service vehicle or workshop van.
- Robust PP plastic case with the striking a+s “cutting instead of chatting” design
- EVA foam insert in black/orange for secure hold and quick overview
- Labeled compartments for all UNF sizes from 1/4'' to 1''
- Threaded mat with tables and instructions as additional scratch protection in the case
Advantages & Features.
Compiled for practical use.
This set is specifically designed for machining UNF fine threads. The combination of standard-compliant hand taps and dies, matching die holders, and two tap wrenches according to DIN 1814 enables the machining of a wide variety of component geometries – from easily accessible surfaces to tight installation spaces. The chrome-plated handles and die-cast zinc holders are dimensioned for workshop use and offer good torque while maintaining comfortable handling. The HSSG design of the taps ensures a long tool life and clean cutting quality.
- Nine three-piece hand tap sets DIN 2184-2 HSSG for UNF 1/4''–1'' (No. 1 & No. 3)
- Nine HSS circular dies DIN EN 22568 Form B for external threads 1/4''–1''
- Two adjustable tap wrenches DIN 1814 (No. 1 and No. 4)
- Six die holders according to DIN EN 22568 from 20×7 to 55×16
- UNF thread template for the quick identification of fine threads
- 110 mm screwdriver for clamping and adjustment work
So that the thread is properly seated.
Areas of application.
The UNF thread cutting set is the ideal solution for working on machines, vehicles, or components with American fine threads. Whether converting imported systems, repairing engine assemblies, or restoring vehicles and motorsport components, the combination of internal and external threading tools allows for both creating new threads and re-tapping damaged ones. The HSSG hand taps enable controlled and gentle machining of even fine threads with larger diameters.
- Manufacturing and repair of UNF internal threads 1/4''–1''
- Cutting UNF external threads on bolts, rods, shafts and special parts
- Maintenance and service of US machines, equipment and systems with fine threads
- Repairs to vehicles, motorcycles and motorsport components
- Use in workshops, service vehicles, training facilities and ambitious hobby workshops
